Alternative Dispute Resolution Section

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to any method of resolving disputes outside of a traditional court trial, such as mediation, arbitration, and negotiation. ADR processes are often less formal, faster, and less expensive than litigation and aim to help parties reach a mutually agreeable, voluntary settlement instead of a judge or other authority deciding the outcome.

Benefits of ADR
  • Cost Savings: ADR is often less expensive than litigation.
  • Time Savings: ADR processes are generally faster than going to trial.
  • Improved Relationships: By promoting open communication and collaboration, ADR can help preserve or improve the relationship between the parties.
  • Party Control: Parties have more control over the outcome in ADR processes compared to a court decision.

The ADR Section is co-chaired by two exemplary neutrals in the profession.
