Dear Ventura County Bar Association Members:

At VCBA, we are grateful for your continued trust and confidence in our organization. We are reaching out during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the Bar Association community that although it may not be business as usual, VCBA remains a source of steadiness and continuity. While we can’t fully know what to expect in the days, weeks, and months ahead, VCBA’s focus has shifted to address the pandemic and our community’s needs.

Like most of the State of California, VCBA staff transitioned to work remotely and remain available by telephone and email. I remain in contact with our Executive Director almost daily. For the first time, VCBA and the Board of Directors held a meeting on Zoom. There were 18 Board Members who participated and presented in our virtual Boardroom. All of our business was completed, new ways to help our members and the community were shared, and we all agreed it was nice to see each other.

To that end, the Board created the COVID-19 Response Task Force to specifically address the situation at hand. First, the Task Force created an email address where members can submit their questions, comments, and concerns that have come up as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. We want to hear from you so we can address those questions, comments, and concerns. Please email us at covid19@vcba.org

Second, we are creating a COVID-19 webpage that will have information for members, vendors, and the public. We expect to have more details about that shortly. Information regarding the courts is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Judges are already reaching out to Section Presidents to provide information and updates on closures and procedures during this time and we plan to compile that information on this webpage as it comes in.

Lastly, we want to continue to provide CLE and programs to our members. During this time of social distancing, webinars and CLEs are an excellent opportunity to not only learn something new but to connect, even if just virtually, with your community. Please be on the lookout for emails regarding Zoom webinars and CLEs we are planning.

We value your participation in VCBA and please know that we are on the job for our members every day. Until we can meet again in person, be well and stay safe. We will get through this together.
